Local Development Strategy

A Local Development Strategy has been developed following consultation with stakeholders, organisations and community members across the Levels and Moors.

This Strategy forms the bid to Defra to draw down a potential £1.7m for funded activities during 2015 - 2020. You can download the following documents in PDF format -

About us

LEADER is an established method of delivering rural development funds at a local level. It uses local knowledge to promote a joined-up ‘bottom up’ community-led delivery of Rural Development Programme grants. In England this is being delivered by Local Action Groups (LAGs) and it targets rural areas with specific needs and priorities.

A Local Action Group brings together individuals from local public, private and civil societies, who have been delegated powers of strategy and delivery. Through an agreed Local Development Strategy, LAGs are able to tackle important local priorities in a locally specific, innovative and participative way.

Levels and Moors LEADER Programme is run by a Local Action Group comprising people from land-based businesses, commerce, public and community sectors in the area.
