L&M 114 Community Scale Renewable Energy project - total grant of £36,000
The Centre for SustainableEnergy plans to support organisations in the Somerset Levels and Moors area to identify and realise technically and financially robust opportunities for community-scale renewable energy projects alongside the provision of energy efficiency advice .
L&M 093 Somerset County Council Heritage Service - total grant of £29,500
The project will seek to identify and investigate the unique cultural heritage of the hard Islands of geology which lie within the Somerset Levels and Moors floodplain.
L&M 032 Somerset Rural Youth Project - total grant of £98,884
144 young volunteers will have the opportunity to experience conservation 'taster days' and 72 young volunteers will receive certification in a minimum of one unit in Environmental and Conservation skills.
L&M 056 Royal Society for the Protection of Birds - total grant of £51,796
The Natural Connections in Somerset project is a comprehensive programme of major improvements to the quality of visitor experience on RSPB's three nature reserves in the Levels and Moors area. Our key goal is to better link Swell Wood (part of West Sedgemoor), Greylake and Ham Wall Reserves into the wider area and surrounding communities, making the sites more accessible to everyone, especially families and people new to wildlife sites / experiences.
L&M 162 Royal Society for the Protection of Birds - total grant of £17,784
The project will make physical improvements to the visitor facilities at the Ham Wall site. Also an increase in staff time will be funded dedicated to visitor services and community engagement work.
L&M 164 Plantlife - total grant of £5,362
The aim of the project is to enhance the Skylark Meadows nature reserve for wildlife, for visitor enjoyment and for community engagement. Local community members will be provided with the opportunity to undertake training in Wild Flowers Count survey and provided with additional knowledge of wild flowers and plants. The site will also be enhanced to provide better access for visitors.
