L&M 112 - Fenny Castle Bike Hire and Tea Rooms - total grant of £27,585

The Fenny Castle Bike Hire and Tea Rooms aims to offer access to the Somerset Levels and Moors in an environmentally friendly manner to the benefit of tourists and local residents.

L&M B127 Bee Keepers on the Levels and Moors - total grant of £4,850

To document beekeepers on the Levels and Moors in a series of paintings, drawings and interviews, culminating in a touring exhibition and book to celebrate beekeeping in the area, the importance of bees in the landscape and farming, their role in pollination and the relationship of the bees with the Somerset Levels and Moors, including their role in orchards and cider production.

This is also another initiative by Kate Lynch, trading as Furlong Fields Publishing to produce an exhibition which will tour inside and outside Somerset and a fine quality publication at a reasonable price which celebrates the unique farming and produce on the Somerset Levels and Moors.

L&M B111 Barrington Pottery - total grant of £4,775

The project will help this micro business set up a fully functional working pottery, that has the ability to offer creative workshops to groups of individuals - locals or tourists. This will be a new facility offered to the tourist/visitors to the Barrington Court National Trust site, increasing the visitor experience.

L&M 119 Moor Beer Company - total grant of £99,500

The purchase of new and upgraded capital equipment which will enable this small brewing company to expand - offering local employment opportunities and helping to increase local supply chains. In addition tours of the brewery add another local tourism attraction to the area.

L&M 126 Levels and More - total grant of £12,000

The project will create a web portal for levels and moors profiling the unique characteristics of the area and the range of businesses on offer within it. The site is designed to attract 'sustainable' tourism as well as provide a training and networking resource for local enterprise.

L&M 136 National Trust Montacute Farmers Market - total grant of £4,485

To purchase 12 trader canopies to enable the Levels' Best & Montacute Farmers' Market to continue. The market has become an established trading outlet for craft makers and food and drink producers from the Somerset Levels and Moors, many of which make use of the brand Levels' Best.

L&M 137 Provender - total grant of £14,950

The grant will enable this sole trader to refurbish and reopen a former delicatessen and cafe. The aim is to showcase local food and drink in both the Deli and Café. There is also the intention to incorporate a gallery area, which will allow local artists to display their work on a rotating basis. Locally sourced suppliers for cheese, milk, preserves, biscuits, chocolate, apple juice, cider and cakes from the Levels and Moors area have been selected. As well as a number of artists from the local area.

L&MB 141 Woolcake - total grant of £2,500

Woolcake is an online retail business, trading hand knitted garments, accessories and wool sourced from Somerset. The philosophy of the business is a concern for sustainability in its widest interpretation. The business has established a trade system with local experts, but to enable it to grow and take on more orders a small amount of capital will enable a financially based business model to be established.

L&MB 140 SW Concrete Mouldings Ltd - total grant of £299

The purchase of new moulding equipment will help with the increase in demand for the products this small business produces.

L&M 122 National Trust (Barrington Court) - total grant of £100,000

Through the re-development of the redundant farm buildings a creative cluster will be formed by the local artisans who will take up the leases of the 5 new units. The units will remain for the use of local artisans.

L&M 160 Kingsbury Community Enterprise Ltd - total grant of £6,500

The newly re-opened Kingsbury Community Shop will refurbish itself with new appropriate and more efficient equipment.

L&M 161 Stoke St Gregory Village Stores - total grant of £4,500

The continued development of this local community shop will be underpinned by this project to replace existing shop fittings and fixtures to improve access and local product presentation.

L&M 166 Glastonbury Ales - total grant of £15,000

The brew school will provide locals and visitors an opportunity to understand micro brewing techniques and 'meet the brewer'. Furthermore the new bottling equipment will help the business become more efficient and develop local supply chains as well as provide potential new employment.

L&M 167 The Sausage Shed - total grant of £12,000

The project is to build a new staff changing room facility and to expand the refrigeration storage space. The project will also purchase a new automatic sausage linking machine which will speed up production and enable the business to supply larger orders to super markets and wider audience.
